Children are suffering from a hidden epidemic of child abuse and neglect. Every year 3.3 million reports of child abuse are made in the United States involving nearly 6 million children (a report can include multiple children). The United States has the worst record in the industrialized nation – losing five children every day due to abuse-related deaths. More information on the cite below

Over the last 10 years incidence of child abuse have increased dramatically. In New Mexico 86.5% were neglected, 13,9% were physically abused, and 3.6% were sexually abused. Laws in New Mexico over child abuse involve being guily of misdemeanor and will be sentenced to pursuant to § 31-19-1. the person will be imprisoned in the county jail for a definite term that is less than 1 year, be fined no more than $1,000, or both at the discretion of the judge.
